Case Studies

Elia Rivera

Patient presented to our office hopeless with severely worn remaining dentition and collapse bite, after being told by many dental professionals that he would need to extract all his teeth. We decided to try to save his natural teeth by doing root canals to remaining maxillary teeth, extracted hopeless teeth, and placed patient on temporary appliances, in this particular case, crown/bridges that served to increase his VDO (open his bite) to make room for removable partial dentures that would replace posterior missing teeth.

Patient stayed on provisional restorations for about 3 months, no problem with his TMJ was reported, and decided to proceed with definite restorations, and finally maxillary and mandibular RPD’s

Leovanis Perez

Patient presented to the office after having his provisional implant crowns fractured, and willing to fix his smile as soon as possible. Implants were placed in Cuba more than 15 years ago, and we had no other information about them. Case was a very complex with multiple dental problems, such as congenitally missing maxillary laterals, and mandibular centrals. Deep overbite, and increased overjet of more than 3mm. Orthodontics treatment, was rejected by patient when offered as ideal option. Patient had been to multiple dental offices which gave him no possible treatment options other than extracting his implants and going through bone grafting procedures to attempt new implants.

After a deep analysis of his case, and consultation with other colleagues we decided best, more predictable, and realistic treatment option for the patient would be to cut and bury the implants, and complete a smile design which will include opening his VDO (open bite), and replacing missing permanent teeth with fixed bridges.
